ANIMAL

Rare/Common/Extinct is the title of my ceramic installation piece that is included in this touring exhibition. Rare/Common/Extinct was produced using commercial hobby-craft ceramic molds, most of which date back to 1950-1970. I slip cast the forms in the traditional manner, except that holes were cut in the wet clay once they were released from the molds. The finished bisque pieces are displayed on the wooden crates used to ship them.

In addition, for the Kenderdine exhibition only, A Chronology of Gowns and Bird Extinctions from 1500 to the Present was shown. Made up of 123 drawings of extinct birds and 8 drawings of dresses from the period corresponding to the extinction of the bird species, this piece is also the basis for my artist book of the same name.

See the Rare/Common/Extinct portfolio in the OTHER MEDIA section.  See A Chronology of Gowns and Bird Extinctions from 1500 to the Present in the WORKS ON PAPER  section and the PRINTED MATTER section.
